Join Our Young Company

Shine on stage in a Broadway-style musical with our advanced performance company.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Our Young Company performance program gives young artists aged 8-17 an opportunity to participate in a fully staged musical in the spring of each year.

Under the direction of industry professionals, company members are taught singing, dancing and acting, with a focus on developing their skills in a challenging and supportive environment.

The Young Company 2023 will once again perform at Theatre Burlington in May 2023, live on-stage.

After some reflection on our first two years, we have decided to do away with auditions for the 2023 company. Registration for Young Company will be on a first-come, first-served basis, until all spots are filled. Those registered are guaranteed a part in the show. The first few rehearsal classes will be dedicated to learning audition skills, team-building as a company, and assigning specific roles to each Young Artist.

What’s included?
  • Become a member of YA Theatre’s Young Company, led by experienced artist educators.
  • A role in a fully staged musical, performed live at a local theatre.
  • 5.5 hrs of rehearsal per week where cast members gain hands on training and experience in singing, dancing, and acting
  • Costumes and props provided
  • A commemorative show t-shirt
  • An invitation to a post-show celebration for the cast, crew, and families (as covid restrictions allow)

Upcoming Shows

Seussical Jr

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
